Major General (Retired) Daniel B. O’Hollaren earned his commission in 1973 as a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He flew the RF-4C operationally while assigned to Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan. He later was assigned as an instructor Weapons Systems Officer in the RF-4C at Shaw AFB, South Carolina. After joining the Oregon Air National Guard, the General flew the F-101B and F-4C, ending his flying career with over 2000 hours. He later became commander of the 142d FW Medical Squadron before being assigned to state headquarters as the Assistant Adjutant General-Air for the state of Oregon. In 2006 General O’Hollaren became commander, Oregon Air National Guard. In 2007 he was selected as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
General O’Hollaren has been active at the state and national level serving on Boards for both the National Guard Association of the United States as well the Oregon National Guard Association. He is currently the Chairman of the Oregon Military Museum Support Council.
Among General O’Hollaren’s numerous recognitions are the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.
