Raymond F. Rees

Mr. Raymond F. Rees most recently served as a Senior Mentor for the Chief, National Guard Bureau, Sep 2021 - Sept 2024. He was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower & Reserve Affairs) for Training, Readiness and Mobilization (TRM) from February 10, 2014, to March 1, 2019. In this position, Mr. Rees provided responsive support to the ASA (M&RA) by formulating plans, programs, policies, and overall practices for the Army's All Volunteer Force, both Active and Reserve Components. TRM exercises Secretariat oversight, direction, and organization of training, readiness, and mobilization within the Army. Prior to this appointment, he retired as The Adjutant General (TAG) for the State of Oregon, where he was responsible for providing the State of Oregon and the United States with a ready force of citizen soldiers and airmen, equipped and trained to respond to any contingency, natural or manmade.

Mr. Rees began his military career in the United States Army as a West Point cadet in July 1962. Major General Rees had numerous active duty and Army National Guard assignments to include: service in the Republic of Vietnam as a cavalry troop commander; commander of the 116th Armored Calvary Regiment; nearly seventeen years as the Adjutant General of Oregon; Director of the Army National Guard, National Guard Bureau; over five years of service as Vice Chief, National Guard Bureau; fourteen months as Acting Chief, National Guard Bureau; Chief of Staff (dual-hatted), Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM). NORAD is a bi-national, Canada and the United States command.
